Highly creative deminers employ 1000 people and shift round about 3000 devices a month, Aki Ra, short time ago unfurnished his 50,000th land mine. Aki Ra is the same person who laid a land mine when he was merely five years old.
The New Zealand Herald reports that Aki Ra from the beginning was trained to kill people when he barely could speak or utter a word, to our amazement he laid down his first mine along the K5 mine belt, which was 700km long and 500m wide untying Cambodia and Thailand.
Over the Years, Aki has gained recognition in his country and along with this he is also earning recognitions from the international land mine movement, and this month is all set to go to Britain to receive explosives training. Not only this, his work is being recognized by the UN and the Cambodian Government as well , for whom he is conducting training sessions.
Aki Ra is now so attached with mines that he has named his youngest child “Mine”. I think he wants to make himself remember that he has to clear all mines from Combodia which is almost like bed of Mines.
