According to the report submitted by the Brotherhood of St. Laurence, the number of Australian children living in poverty is ‘dangerously high’.
It has been estimated that around 500,000 children or 11.6 percent of Australian under the age of 18 are leading their life in utter poverty. The report also highlighted that in comparison to the 25 others OECD countries, nine countries have fewer children living in poverty than Australia.
The report titled Social Barometer: Children’s Chances revealed that condition of Australian children based on their physical and mental growth, housing, education, safety and economic resources, is extremely very poor.
