According to a recent report presented by the Children Charity organization Barnado on the children living in the care homes, it is revealed that eight out of ten students fail to clear their exams. Most of them are ‘written off’ by the education system.
Almost 80,000 children were assessed during this survey, which states that most of the children fail due to neglect. They have desire to work hard and go for further studies but unfortunately, they do not have an access to proper care.
Martin Narey, Chief executive of Barnado believes that there are many factors, which are leading to the disadvantageous stage of the children in care homes.
-Majority of the children in the care homes are bullied by their peers.
-Frequent change of schools is another important factor in their failure.
-Lack of moral support and exclusion from the society has a negative impact on the child’s educational progress.
-At least four out of every 10 students said that they were always left alone to attend the parents day evenings, as no one turns up for them.
-Most of the times the child is shifted from one to the other care home. Some have even stayed in near about 30 such care places.
-Half of the children in child care homes have gone to six schools and almost 11% has attended 10 schools and even more than that.
The only way to help these underprivileged children is to appoint designated teachers, who will be given special training to deal with all the problems faced by the child.
