The drawings, mostly done with crayon and marker are full of several images, reflecting pain and trauma- floating bodies, children crying red tears. But there are also the images which contain ray of hope too such as a rainbow, blue sky, and sunshine. The creators of these drawings are the little hands who have survived the deadly Katrina.

Reginald Otkin, a 15 year old from New Orleans, said, “It was the first thing I drew that was a picture of me telling people I had survived Katrina. To me, the hurricane was a minor setback and people just have to take time and get a little bit of their life back step by step.”

The drawings were in fact one of the ways to highlight their feelings to express their emotions.
