Bill and Melinda Gates have come forward for a social cause. They have given $84 million to Westport- based Savre the Children and another agency, both fighting for illness in the children of 18 developing countries.
The grant was announced early this month from Seattle through an international teleconference. Anne Tinker, director of Save the Children, said that $60 million share is quite sufficient to run ‘Saving the Newborn Life’ program running.
The remaining $24 million will go to Seattle- based program entitled Program for Appropriate Technology in Health (PATH). The PATH aims at building up a health network for pregnant women and new born in two provinces of India.
