The demand of early childhood development (ECD) services in Kenya has increased considerably due to the change in the family structures and lifestyle of the people. The extended family culture has continued to decrease, with an increase in the number of more and more parents going outside for work. Many of the families in Kenya are either headed by the single parent, particularly mothers or grandmothers and the rest one -third of the families are headed by women. Since the mothers they go away from home for work, and so are unable to take proper care of their child. This has resulted in the growing interest of the parents for ECD services.

Theses services are not just in demand because of the custodial point of view but also help children in the preparation for their advance primary education and socialization.
