It is certianly miserable, when we think of a child playing with real guns instead of toys and forced to step into war fields instead of playgrounds. But it’s happening presently in Congo. Children here are still recruited in armed militia and rebel gangs and sadly, Congo government is unable to control the situation. At present, it is estimated that 40% are children, which are recruited by various extremist groups. According to the sources, the number of children in these groups are alarming. They are about 11,000 in number, in which some of them are aged between 6 to 10.

Already many efforts were made to release these children but after releasing them the government is unable to re-establish them due to which they are redrawn for the sake of their stomach. These groups have kept thousands of them as soldiers if peace breaks and war brakes out. It is also realized that government had not only failed to release the captured but unable to stop new recruitments.

Limitations are crossed when even the girls are taken forcefully to their camps or sometimes they are kept as sex slaves and forced to work as spies. There duty is to make soldiers feel comfortable in what ever way they can.

To control such a critical situation whole world should try to co-operate Congo to set up such an infrastructure so that children may prefer play grounds instead of battle fields.
