According to the UNICEF’s 2006 State of the World’s Children report most of the children in the Middle East suffer from abuse, exploitation and discrimination. Health and education services are also not accessible to the children who are in extreme need of it.
The reports conducted in the Middle East and North Africa suggested that the instability and the poor governance have resulted in the existing disparities within and between the countries.
Thomas McDermott, UNICEF Regional for the Middle East and North Africa, said that, ‘Many countries in the region have successfully addressed education, health and other human development needs in the past twenty years yet within these countries, many children continue to live in communities totally cut off from the progress around them.”
