Most of them at the very tender age of 13 become a member of these numerous gangs. Measures are taken by the city and school officials to launch recreational programs for the students as an alternative to the gang involvements. $900,000 is already being allotted to spend in this regard.
As said by a police official the number of students who claims gang membership among the Santa Rosa youth’s can’t be known exactly. The workers of Santa Rosa feel that recreational programs will be the best way to deal with increasing crime scene that involves these gangs.
In the year 2002, almost 145 youths were found guilty due to their crime involvement. The School board members have urged the city council to provide the schools with 2 and more police officers so that they can fight this growing problem of gang crimes.
It is the parents as well as the society as a whole who will have to understand that it is only their cumulative efforts along with the police authority and the school officials together which will fetch a better result.
