Child labour as usual is one of the most consistent problems that is threatening the state of Jharkhand. Though efforts are being made from many quarters the problem still continues.
When Jharkhand was under the Bihar government, around 186 cases were being registered. But now the number has grown considerably since more and more inspection is being carried out.
The difference between the figure last year and that of this year is too huge. There were just 66 cases that were reported in the year 2005 whereas 2006 has witnessed almost 980 child labourers.
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) authorities have been trying to curb down the numbers but to no avail.
