Edwin Wilson, 58, sentenced nine months imprisonment on the charges of keeping 18,000 indecent images of children, could now return back to his job within four months because of a legal loophole.
Judge Mary- Jane Mowat had passed a 21 months sentence against Wilson at Reading Cron court, which included nine- month jail term also. The sentence was followed by a longer license period and a probability of sending Wilson for offender’s treatment programme.
But during the trial it emerged out that keeping indecent pictures of children is not included in the list of sexual offences on an Act of parliament, hence the judge has ‘no power’ to give Wilson any further extended sentence.
