An increasing number of Korean children are diagnosed with a development, coined as ‘English fatigue syndrome’. The parents are receiving crisis calls from the school staffs, informing them of their child’s distracting activities and poor performance.
One child says, ‘I want to kill English’, while the other tells lie such as, ‘I’m sick’ or ‘the teacher hit me’ whenever they have to attend the class of the English language instructor.
Korean English education market is worth nearly an estimated amount of US$10 billion, but there is a vast majority of almost 48.7% of children, who are showing a growing antagonism towards the foreign languages.
