Poor parents in Pakistan who cannot afford the fees of the government-run school send their children to Madrasas. UN Convention on the Rights of the Child researched that many students from such madrasas have joined the Taleban in Afghanistan or militant religious groups in Pakistan, often without the consent of their parents.
Children living in these private institutes have to undergo several physical tortures. A raid in March 1996 from one such private institute in Multan released 64 students aged between eight and 14, who were held in ropes and chains.
