As tensions continue in the war-torn country, a number of Iraqi children being victimized by countless bombings and abuses in Baghdad remain a major problem.

In a recent report of UNICEF, a UN children’s agency, the daily siege that Iraq is facing has put the lives of two million Iraqi children at risk.

Threats that endanger their lives include malnutrition, inability to go to school, all forms of violence, scarcity of the basic needs such as food, clothing and shelter, vulnerability to diseases and more.

With everything at high alert, social services and other aids can not be transmitted to these children easily.

In 2007 alone, the UNICEF’s recent report showed hundreds of children in Iraq were killed and around 1,350 others were illegally detained.

Since most regions in Iraq post uncertainties, thousands of families have to look for safe places in other places in the country every month to secure their safety.

The UNICEF report said some 25,000 children, along with their families, were displaced and continue to search for safe houses to survive in these trying times in Iraq.

But with the subsiding violence in Iraq, UNICEF is optimistic that soon assistance from international agencies can easily penetrate regions where most displaced families were temporarily hiding.
