As tensions continue in the war-torn country, a number of Iraqi children being victimized by countless bombings and abuses in Baghdad remain a major problem.
In a recent report of UNICEF, a UN children’s agency, the daily siege that Iraq is facing has put the lives of two million Iraqi children at risk.

Threats that endanger their lives include malnutrition, inability to go to school, all forms of violence, scarcity of the basic needs such as food, clothing and shelter, vulnerability to diseases and more.
With everything at high alert, social services and other aids can not be transmitted to these children easily.

In 2007 alone, the UNICEF’s recent report showed hundreds of children in Iraq were killed and around 1,350 others were illegally detained.
Since most regions in Iraq post uncertainties, thousands of families have to look for safe places in other places in the country every month to secure their safety.
The UNICEF report said some 25,000 children, along with their families, were displaced and continue to search for safe houses to survive in these trying times in Iraq.

But with the subsiding violence in Iraq, UNICEF is optimistic that soon assistance from international agencies can easily penetrate regions where most displaced families were temporarily hiding.

Based on reports, General David Petraeus, top American commander in Iraq, said the number of attacks in the country was reduced in the recent years.

Comparing the figures to that of last year, this month had 536 Iraqi recorded deaths. In December 2006, there were more than 2,300 deaths showing a significant deduction in the number of fatalities.

Jesus said”Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” (Matthew 19:14)
How sad that is ALWAYS winds up being the children that suffer and/or die. I wish more people would take this into consideration before continuously opting to solve EVERYTHING with war. When in reality NOTHING is getting solve anyway.
I think of these children as my children. I think that people see these young girls and boys and try to push it out of their minds but, what they need to do is hold these images forever and remember them. Let them scar your psyche because that is what the memories of these moments do to the children in these photos. Imagine seeing your mom die or your dad when you are 5 or 6 or 10 or 11 that would be absolutely awful. Thank god our forefathers had the courage to make the constitution which we are so eager to give away!!! Thank god for the Neocons and those that are too morally bankrupt to realize our country will soon be like this if we don’t secure our rights and our country by force if necessary!!
