child labours in Morocco

In a recent survey conducted by the Morocco’s employment ministry, almost 600,000 children in the age group of 7 to 14 work as labourers all over the country. This number constitutes almost 11% of the children in the country.

On the other hand, the US Human Rights Watch Group has stated that young girls often work 100 hrs a day without any break in between, and they are paid just 70 cents for their bone-breaking work. They are further being physically abused and denied any kind of education.

In the light of this matter, the Moroccan government is drafting a bill that will ban any form of child labour, more particularly domestic labour.
