burmese child soldiers

When humans turn animals they abuse their own children. The Myanmar military junta were earlier known as human oppressors; a kind of conglomeration of various devils in human forms. They had recently beaten, tortured and dehumanized many innocent Buddhist monks or protesting against the junta. The Nobel Peace Prize winner Aung San Suu Kyi continues to languish under house arrest. And now we have the ultimate in brutality reported.

The UK Telegraph reports that thousands of children are routinely being recruited and trained by the military regime in Burma. Human Rights Watch - HRW, in its 135-page report entitled Sold to be Soldiers: The Recruitment and Use of Child Soldiers in Burma, has informed that there are cash incentives in place for those who hand over kids to the military.

Like cowards everywhere, the Burmese junta is using these children as frontline soldiers in its fight against thirty or so ethnic guerrilla groups. The children are not only taught to fight, but like child-soldiers everywhere are daily abused. Corporal punishment and long days of starvation are the norm.

Some children, in a fashion similar to the Sri-Lankan LTTE’s child-recruits, are exclusively turned into sex-slaves for the military leadership. We have seen these disgusting phenomena in Africa too; especially in the Sudanese army. It is a matter of psychiatric and clinical significance that military regimes who induct children in their ranks show the same traits as individual pedophiles.

A pedophile is a confirmed gutless adult who walks as a shadow in the adult, civilized world. These military regimes just find devious excuses to get social and legal sanction to their perverted tastes.
The children are given about eighteen weeks training in how to kill and then they are let loose. This way two thing are achieved. The sane Burmese who want to protest against the junta are unable to fight their own children. And having only eighteen weeks’ training the kids will surely die fast.

That way, no evidence remains of the monstrous deeds of the Burmese leadership. Indeed the Burmese have a law enacted in 1973 which prohibits the joining of underage men to the army.

Ye Htut, deputy director general of Myanmar’s Information Ministry , has loudly declared from his Nazi type Propaganda offices in Burma that his government will hunt out the offenders and that there certainly is no official policy for such recruitments. He also mentioned that in 2004, a Committee for the Prevention of Recruiting Under-aged Children for Military Recruitment was established. His indignant denials and surprise at this HRW report misses one deadly point.

If such practices were not common in Burma why did the Myanmar Government feel the need to tighten existing laws for the edification of the international community? When new evils rise, new laws are put in place.

There is a caveat to the whole issue. The United Nations has been accused of being a silent spectator of this genocide of babies. It is not surprising seeing that Burma has neither oil , nor gas, nor Islamic terrorists to interest either the world or the hungry media.
