A recent survey conducted for Microsoft Canada called the Ipsos -Reid poll, suggested that most of the so called Internet Savvy kids fall flat when it comes to their security concerns in the online world.
The survey showed that around seventy percent of the kids aged 10-14 feel that they are very much safe on the Internet and the personal information that they post via e-mails and IMs is private.
Due to this kind of misconception, inexperienced kids are becoming a prey to many online crimes and rackets, making it tough for parents to deal with the situation.
It seems that the kids feel that due to no physical aspect involved on the online territory, they are pretty safe as no body can hit them and cause any physical harm. So, sending photographs and chatting to strangers and providing them personal information does not come as a prospective fear to them.
In a situation like this, it seems it is all the more important for parents to keep a vigil on their kids and keep them aware of the prospective dangers that keep lurking around in the online territory.
