In a drive to put their voice across to the higher authority, secondary school students in Santiago came down for a rally in the streets. Nearly thousands and thousand of the students from across the capital joined the rally and demanded for urgent educational reforms.
Schools across Chile were closed as a part of the protest demanding ‘new curriculum, free use of public transport, and the scrapping of exam fees’.
Though the rally began peacefully at first, later some students had a clash with the Chile police, which forced the police to release tear gas in order to dismiss the biggest ever gathering that the country has witnessed in decades.
Nearly 400,000 students gathered in the streets and even the daughter of President Bachelet will be joining her friends, as a report says.
I guess this shows that today’s kids are very much aware of their rights and will do the needful to attain them.
The demands that they are putting forward are very much logical and fortunately, even the President agrees to it.
Is it because Mr. Bachelet’s daughter too is joining her batch mates in the rally that has forced the president to sympathize with the school students?
Or is is because of her duty that the President is in sync with the demands of the students?
