An analysis was done on the children’s’ brain by researcher Dr. Philip Shaw, Dr. Judith Rapoport and few others from the National Institute of Mental Health in Bethesda, Md., which revealed that those children’s who are always ahead of the rest in the class, in spite of being smart actually shows low thinking level in comparison to the rest.
Well in exact words: ‘The brain’s outer mantle, or cortex, gets thicker and then thins during childhood and the teen years.’
The proper reason is not yet identified but possibilities are not excluded that the ambience has a lot to do with the intellectual stimulation of the child.
The cortex of around 307 children’s were examined during the process by using magnetic resonance in frequent intervals thereby imaging scans from early childhood to the late teens.
No results has been declared so far as the researcher are not yet sure of the relation between the two things.
