According to a special report released yesterday by University Teachers For Human Rights (JAFFNA), as many as 100,000 sex workers are present in the country.



The report handed over to President Mahinda Rajapakse revealed that the country houses more than half million child labourers and a shocking figure of almost 100,000 commercial sex workers.



Although the exact number is not yet known as it is not possible to document such a thing but an approximate figure will be around 10,000 children between 6 to 14 years has made the brothels their surviving homes and the rest 5000 in the age group of 10 to 18 years works in the tourist’s locations.



This report should ring an alarm bell in the house of the higher authorities of the nation because the nation has already been suffering from the LTTE recruiting child soldiers and now they have the child sex and child labour issue to tackle with.
