Most of the people that have occupied the streets hail from underdeveloped region of Karamoja. Presently, they are being drifted to a farmland called the Kampiringisa Centre.

Primarily it was put up as a rehabilitation center for young offenders but now it is giving shelter to nearly 900 people almost all among them are children. The place is very much overcrowded.

A young girl of ten narrated her story of how she was deserted by her aunt and was left to feed herself on the capital’s street. And similar experience is shared by most of the children in here.

Government is rounding up huge number of street children and allocating them to the Kampiringisa Centre but what about the resources, which they are in dire need of?

The situation is so worse that not even the aid groups are coming up for their rescue. Thus, it has been assumed that even they are lacking funds to furnish it.

The root cause of the entire thing is poverty and ignorance.
