Ever since its advent Internet is a safe haven for pedophiles. Throughout the world they resort to online chat to enmesh kids. And often innocent kids fall prey to these unscrupulous people’s nasty tricks. Nevertheless, authorities are also trying their best to nab these pedophiles. In one such praiseworthy incident UK Police smashed a global Internet pedophiles network, which had more than 700 members. They also rescued more than 30 children from getting sexually abused.
To break this network one police officer had to work undercover. He monitored the activities of a website - Kids the Light of Our Lives. And it was found that instead of spreading the light in the young ones the sole objective of the website is to sexually abuse kids. The members of this network were operating from 35 nations and they used to exchange thousands of indecent pictures and video clips of children.
After gathering the information police arrested website monitor Timothy Cox from Suffolk, London. In the raid they also discovered 76,000 explicit images and 1,100 videos on his computer.
CEOP Chief Executive Jim Gamble said:
Any individual who thinks they carry out such horrific activities undetected is in for a very rude awakening. The belief that the Internet provides anonymity is unfounded.
Kudos to police for accomplishing the mission. But they must realize that this is just the tip of an iceberg and thousands of pedophiles continue to ruin young lives in various parts of the globe aided by Internet. The need of the hour is to launch collective steps to nab these online pedophiles. As a mater of fact the first step would be to award rigorous imprisonment to Timothy Cox to send strong message to other sleazy minded people.
