US Attorney General, Alberto Gonzales was heard at the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in Virginia telling how he sought to promote changes in the Child Pornography and Obscenity Prevention Amendments of 2006.
He stated :
Sadly, the internet age has created a vicious cycle in which child pornography continually becomes more widespread, more graphic, more sadistic, using younger and younger children.
He highlighted the problems like ‘molestation on demand’ where a child is abused as others watch live through streaming video. He commented on the use of file sharing which makes it impossible for the authorities to control pornography.
The latest measure he proposed in the amendment are laws that will require ISPs to report child pornography and the implementation of penalties for those companies that fail to do so.
